After coming across this article, I just had to include it in my blog.  There are such wonderful and lovely ideas, that I thought you might appreciate me sharing this with you.

1. Video save the date
   
   The first lovely idea is a newer version of "save the date".  Jessie and Amy decided to do this for their wedding, instead of the traditional paper save the date.

2. Decorative Reception Lighting
   
   Imagine rows of tables decorated with paint cans that have drilled holes and lighted from the inside with candles.  Well this is what David Stark did.  And the result was a magnificent "cityscape of lights".

3. A guest book with a difference
   
   Now this is an idea that any couple can incorporate into their wedding.  It doesn't necessarily have to be ski's as per the picture below, but think of your favourite past time or favourite item, and have your guests sign on this item.  For eg.  If you guys share a love for rugby, why not have all your guests sign on a rugby ball?

4. Create a custom wedding cake table
   
   Instead of opting for a traditional round or square table draped in linen, why not have your cake table stacked with books or magazines, tall glass vases or why not do what this couple did and have it on wheat grass?
   
5. Have a tree planting ceremony
   
   Many couples still prefer to have the traditional unity candle or sand ceremony, but why not be different and create a difference by having a tree planting ceremony?

6. Have custom illustrated wedding invitations made
   
   Have custom illustrated wedding invitations or stationary made or get a professional artist to draw a caricature  cartoon of the two of you that you can include in all your wedding stationary.

7. Bathtub reception decor
   
   Instead of using a bathtub, you can also make use of an old boat or big container that matches your theme.  Include this in the reception by having the drinks kept cold in it, or you can even fill it with sand and top it off with candles.
   
8. Phonograph cocktail hour music
   
   Instead of hiring a dj or string quartet to play during your cocktail hour, why not go old fashioned and hire a phonograph to play while the guests are enjoying some cocktails and canapés.  Ensure that someone experienced is capable of handling it.
   
9. BIG-TIME wedding branding
   
   Decorate your reception site with oversized lettering similar to the "hollywood sign" feel.  Some might think you are a bit full of it, but this is YOUR day afterall.

10. A boutonniere for your "trophy" man
    
    This cute boutonniere is made up of small spray painted mini trophies, filled with moss and tiny succulents.
