Having kids at your wedding might be a daunting idea – however, keep them busy with a fun and unique centrepiece and lots of activities.
Even though you might have decided to include "no children" at the Reception on your wedding invitation, the fact that there might be a handful coming is likely. Family and close friends might insist on bringing their little ones with and needless to say, you might decide going the traditional route regarding ring bearers and flower girls – unfortunately then there is no way out.
An article by Christy Matte on www.wedding-planning.suite101.com caught my eye. She mentions the following important aspects:
- Give Them a Place to be Kids – decorate their table slightly different but still within your wedding theme.
- Keep them busy – give each chid a goodie bag with some toys and sweeties in. Make sure that the toys that are given are age-appropriate, and if possible, try and give all the kids the same toys. If you do give them crayons and colouring books, ensure that the table cloth that is on their table can not be damaged.
- Give them some attention – even though this is your special day after all, why not ask the DJ to play a song that they know and can dance to?
- Cater to their needs – ensure that the kids meals are age appropriate and meals are served when adults get their starters.
There are a few companies in and around South Africa that can make up special "goodie bags" for your wedding.
